In addition, the students receive period kits, hygiene products and other items to help them navigate through their college experience.

This tour is the brain child of HerFlow Founder, Author, Shelly-Ann Weeks who after attending a World AIDS Day breakfast event in 2018 and heard some troubling statistics about the 18-25 year demographic and their approach to responsible sexual choices.

“LIVE SAFE was a concept I created after I heard how college aged students are make choices. I wanted to help them be more deliberate and understand the consequences before making choices.” Weeks explains. “I am very happy with the response that we have received from the schools we visited.”

The tour visited 20 institutions over 7 parishes including: community colleges, teachers’ college, universities and training schools. Between Oct 1 and Nov 5, 2019, over 7000 students benefited form the LIVE SAFE College Tour.

“We are happy for partnerships like this because we are able to access a very important demographic. We conducted testing with almost 200 students and we did find some of them.” Hanna-Lisa Morgan-Williams of Jamaica AIDS Support For Life explained. “We hope to continue our collaboration in years to come.”

The LIVE SAFE College Tour is sponsored by Stayfree, Playtex Sport, Sarweeks Publishing, Biore and Brut.
