#EndPeriodPovertyJA

7,190,450 period products donated so far…

The drive to End Period Poverty started October 24, 2016 with 3 schools. Today, the campaign has grown and included partnerships and donations to over 300 schools, government homes, community organizations and since 2021, clinics.

There are almost 100,000 Jamaican girls on our National School Feeding Programme – created for students who cannot afford lunch – and we assume that if they cannot afford lunch then they will not be able to afford menstrual products.  This assumption was confirmed through interviews conducted with Guidance Counsellors, Nurses and students at selected schools across the island.

We invited the public, through our social media pages to donate menstrual products and drop them off at designated drop off locations.  After receiving products, we unpack them from the package and create Period Kits using a mixture of pads, pantyliners and wipes – Each kit will have a mix of products for super, normal and overnight flow.
