HerFlow Foundation was started to empower women and girls about their Reproductive Health and Rights through education and mentorship.
We have 5 main objectives:
- To ADVOCATE for the removal of the Tampon Tax
- To EMPOWER women and girls about their Reproductive Health and Rights
- To ADVOCATE for greater access to comprehensive Female Reproductive Health Care
- To END Period Poverty in Jamaica
- To EDUCATE by creating a comprehensive reference for Female Reproductive Health
Our Founder, Shelly-Ann Weeks, established Period Awareness Day – October 24, 2016, Period Awareness Week – Oct. 18-24 and October is Period Awareness Month – to address about the stigma and shame still associated with periods.
Since our inception, we have achieved a few milestones:
Period Awareness Week – October 24, 2016
- School Tour – Conducted Period Education Session – 2 Tertiary Institutions (440 students)
- Donated Menstrual Products to students
- Donated Menstrual Products to 2 government organizations for women (Women’s Center and Women’s Inc)
Period Awareness Week – October 18-24, 2017
- School Tour – Conducted Period Education sessions – 13 High Schools and Tertiary Institutions. (approximately 2000 students)
