❣️ an important anatomy lesson ahead of the weekend ❣️

I found this 3D printed model at my parents’ house and thought it was a good time to talk about a very interesting organ most people don’t know enough about!

[Video description: Milly, a white femme person with pink hair is wearing a white jumper and colourful necklaces. They’re sitting on a bed talking to the camera and holding up a pink 3D printed model. Partway through the video hey also show a felt diagram of a v-lva]

A woman’s 28-day menstrual cycle typically consists of several phases, each associated with various physical and emotional changes.

Go follow @daveymaher_fitness for expert guidance if you’re a woman over 40 dealing with weight loss/ hormone challenges

Not all women have exactly 28 days cycle.

Here’s a breakdown of the typical menstrual cycle:

	1.	Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5):
	•	Menstruation begins on the first day of the cycle.
	•	Bleeding lasts for about 3-7 days.
	•	Many women may experience cramps, fatigue, and mood swings during this phase.

	2.	Follicular Phase (Days 1-13):
	•	Hormone levels begin to rise.
	•	The ovaries prepare to release an egg (ovulation).
	•	Energy levels increase, she’s more social, outgoing, best time to build muscle and appetite & hunger are under control. Best time to handle conflict in a relationship!

	3.	Ovulation Phase (Around Day 14):
	•	The ovary releases an egg into the fallopian tube.
	•	This is the most fertile time in the cycle. Her libido is at its peak.
	•	Her estrogen & testosterone are at its highest.

	4.	Luteal Phase (Days 15-28):
	•	Everything starts to reverse. Estrogen takes a hit & progesterone takes over, preparing the uterine lining for pregnancy.
	•	Some women may experience premenstrual symptoms (PMS) & (PMDD)symptoms like breast tenderness, bloating, irritability, cramps and severe mood swings. She’s at her heaviest & fatigued.

If she asks you to buy a purse it’s probably the best time to say yes! 👛

	•	If pregnancy doesn’t occur, hormone levels drop, leading to the start of a new menstrual cycle.
