HerFlow Foundation in association with the D & G Foundation presents Writing HerStory – Empowering the next generation of women leaders.
Why?
The 2019 theme for International Women’s Day is Balance for Better. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving a gender-balanced world is key. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender balance.
Though Jamaica boasts having the most Managers per capita, that is middle management and most of the business leaders are still men. Writing HerStory is created to motivate young ladies through the stories of successful women.
Through Writing HerStory, we bussed in 300 girls ages 9 to 13 years from inner city and rural schools and fete them for the day at the Institute of Jamaica where they were able to tour the heritage sites and learn about Jamaican culture. They were introduced to Women Leader from red Stripe and a Period Workshop was conducted along. Each girl was gifted tokens form D & G Foundation and Period Kits from HerFlow Foundation.
Writing HerStory 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID Pandemic.
