The Talk of the Town at the Jamaica Pegasus hosted women and a few men for the 2nd Annual Healthy Pelvis Conference on Saturday, November 16, 2019. The event was created to provide a space where women can get relevant information about female reproductive and tips on how to treat the chronic pain that so many of them face. Author, Activist and HerFlow Foundation Founder, Shelly-Ann Weeks, started the conference because she empathized with women who suffer in silence because of reproductive issues like fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, etc.
“I have had painful periods for most of my adult life and I changed my relationship with food in 2015. I have been living pain free ever since. I wanted to pay it forward.” The author of I CHANGED MY DIET AND CHANGED MY LIFE explained. Her journey is detailed in her book that also includes recipes.
Speakers at the event included Nutritionist, Tehuti Maat, Womb Wellness Specialist, Mrs. Ramona “Cosmic Wombman” Riley, Dr Kiri Bridgewater and Author Shelly-Ann Weeks.
The event was interactive and encouraged questions from the audience as presenters spoke which really allowed for the guests to relax and not feel anxious about the usual stigma and shame that comes with conversations about these topics.
Main sponsor, Always had a beautiful booth and guests purchase products to donate to HerFlow’s continued drive to End Period Poverty in Jamaica. HerFlow and Always partnered earlier this year to donate over 13000 packs of pads to high school girls in schools across 7 parishes.
“I am very happy that these women will find some relief from the information they got here today.” A happy Shelly-Ann Weeks said after the event.
The next Healthy Pelvis Conference is scheduled for October 31, 2020.
