Jodian Fearon died giving birth to her child under suspicious circumstances linked to COVID 19. The details are still unclear and there are several stories circulating but the facts remains, this young lady lost her life unnecessarily.

In a release from the Minister of Health, Dr Christopher Tufton, an investigation has been launched to uncover what occurred from the time Fearon left her home to go to the hospital top give birth to her child.
No person should ever be denied access to healthcare.
Jamaica, I am deeply saddened by the death of the pregnant mother and we are investigating the matters surrounding her passing.

Our Executive Director, Shelly-Ann Weeks has criticize the Health Ministry in the past for their lack of urgency in address female reproductive health issues and this incident further proves that the systems in place are insufficient and must be address so we can prevent any further loss of life.
“The world is reeling from this COVID-19 pandemic that we are experiencing and I simply cannot understand how Jodian lost her life.” A distraught Weeks said. “We must be able to trust that the health team is able and ready to assist us when we visit these facilities. I am absolutely mortified that something like this could happen in 2020.”
Prime Minister, Hon. Andrew Holness, sent his condolences to Jodian’s family and is also awaiting the results of the pending investigation.
